Google Meet

Video calls for everyday conversations

Google Meet is a video-calling and meeting app for people who need to talk face to face from an Android device. It suits family catch-ups, one-to-one conversations, study groups, and team meetings without requiring a separate app for each kind of call.

Tools that help keep the conversation clear

The app can adjust for uneven lighting and reduce background noise, making it easier to see and hear people in less-than-perfect surroundings. Real-time captions can display spoken words on screen, although language support varies. These features are useful when a room is noisy, a speaker is difficult to hear, or someone prefers to follow along by reading.

Useful extras for meetings and social calls

Meet includes reactions, effects, filters, and virtual backgrounds for a more relaxed call. Depending on the account and plan, additional tools may include meeting recording, AI-assisted note-taking, and speech translation between supported languages. Availability can also depend on the device, language, and whether the feature is part of a premium offering.

Scale and track record

Google LLC publishes the app in the Communication category. Its rating is 4.44 out of 5 from more than 11.7 million reviews, with 10 billion-plus installs. That reach makes it a practical choice when the people you want to call are already familiar with Google’s meeting service.
