Google Photos

A gallery that keeps your library within reach

Google Photos is a photo and video library for people who want one place to back up, browse, edit and share their memories. It suits everyday phone photographers as well as anyone managing a large collection across more than one device. Automatic backup helps protect your media, while the timeline makes it easy to revisit older pictures without sorting everything by hand.

Search instead of scrolling

The app can organize a busy library around faces, places, objects and words found in images. That makes searches such as a location, a type of food or a document more useful than relying only on folder names. Similar images can also be grouped together, helping reduce the clutter created by several near-identical shots.

Practical tools for everyday photos

Google Photos includes editing features for adjustments, unwanted distractions and images that need a little help with clarity. Google Lens functions add another useful layer: you can work with text in a picture, identify some subjects and translate selected content. The shared Google storage allowance also means your photo library sits alongside other Google files, so space is worth keeping in mind.

A widely used, well-established choice

Developed by Google LLC, Google Photos is listed in the Photography category and has a 4.4 rating from more than 53 million reviews. Its listing shows 10 billion-plus installs, reflecting how commonly it is used on Android phones. It is a sensible fit for people who value searchable cloud storage and simple editing more than a traditional folder-based gallery.
